ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Objective of the Department: The American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Fine Arts, Architecture undergraduate program (B.Arch) assure the need for architects that provide architectural and visual value to architectural structures that are the main reflection of cultural identity and leave a mark on history.
Vision: The department is aiming to give graduates that are; competent in theory and practice, equivalent to international criteria in education, creative, with technical knowledge, has developed his/her skills in design, sustainability, sensitive in the fields of urban scale and more importantly in professional ethics and to develop a critical thinking centered education model aiming to enrich education with interdisciplinary collaborations.
Mission: To train architects who have the qualifications to fulfill the profession of architecture in national and international platforms, establish interdisciplinary relations, research, approach scientifically, follow innovations and develop themselves, give graduates who can run imagination, use creative thinking, bring new inventions, gain ability of ensuring leadership in design, can apply their profession in individual and group works and to train designers who have a talented, creative, critical mind (mindset) and respectful of professional ethics.

Program Description: The main philosophy of the Architecture undergraduate program is to create a sensitivity; to think, design and apply within the framework of social responsibility, sustainability and ethical values by evaluating the knowledge of the field with a critical approach. In this context, it is aimed to gain qualifications at the national and international level, including the design, history and theory, environment and city, building science and technologies of the architecture and the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the profession.
Admission and Registration Requirements: Within the framework of the regulations determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), student admission to this program is done through the examination system conducted by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Student registration procedures are carried out within the framework of the principles set by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The Rector's Office announces every year, the enrollment dates, required documents and registration places of the candidates who will register to the University for the first time. Registration procedures are carried out by the Student Affairs Office. Final registration is not possible with missing documents or mail. The records of those determined to have tampered with the documents are not recorded. If it is understood that the registration was done by mistake, its records will be deleted.
Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate from the undergraduate architecture program, it is required to have a passing grade from 50 courses (Local Credit: 145, ECTS: 240) in the 4-year (8 semesters) curriculum, average 2.00 and above, and successfully complete two internship courses.
Employment Opportunities: The American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Fine Arts, Architecture program graduate Architects can work in the construction, planning and design of various structures and buildings, such as public buildings, commercial and residential areas. Architects are responsible for designing the place in accordance with the needs of the people who will use the buildings and in harmony with the environment and in the most comfortable, healthy, safe and economical ways. Architects also can work in the architectural departments of public institutions and organizations such as the ministries, municipalities, etc. Apart from that, they can open their own offices as well as they can have job opportunities in the private sector architecture and construction companies. Graduates of the Department of Architecture can also continue their master and doctorate education and work in academic institutions.
